On August 30, Victory Day, the first mortar of the Mahmutbey-Bahçeşehir-Esenyurt Metro Line was poured. When the metro project is completed, the 42.6-kilometer road between Esenyurt and Kabataş will be crossed in 67 minutes.
On the 99th anniversary of the August 30 Victory, the first mortar of the Mahmutbey-Bahçeşehir-Esenyurt Metro line was poured. The ceremony was held at the Bağcılar construction site, the starting point of the metro line.
Speaking before laying the mortar for the metro line, Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, expressed his satisfaction for taking the first step in bringing a new metro line to Istanbul on August 30 Victory Day.
WILL PASS THROUGH 5 DISTRICTS
İmamoğlu said, “This line will pass through 5 districts where 3 million of our people live. The 18-kilometer line will consist of 11 stations. İmamoğlu continued his speech, “I am a citizen of Esenyurt from Esenyurt square, he will arrive at Mahmutbey in 28 minutes. It will go to Mecidiyeköy in 60 minutes. It will go to Kabataş in 67 minutes. It will be able to cover 43 kilometers from one end to the other in 67 minutes. This line will serve nearly one and a half million passengers daily. In the first place, we will open the Mahmutbey Suleiman the Magnificent line, that is, the 6 and a half kilometers long section consisting of 5 stations, in 2024.
After the speeches, Ekrem İmamoğlu and the other protocol went to the construction site to pour the first mortar. İmamoğlu, who poured the mortar by pressing the button, took a souvenir photo with the workers in the construction and celebrated the August 30 Victory Day.
MECIDIYEKOY MAHMUTBEY METRO WILL CONTINUE
When the project, which will be the continuation of the Mecidiyeköy-Mahmutbey Metro, which is being extended to Kabataş, is completed, an Istanbulite who takes the train from Kabataş will have the opportunity to travel to Esenyurt. When the Kabataş section of Mahmutbey-Esenyurt Metro and Kabataş-Mahmutbey Metro is completed, the journey time between Esenyurt Meydan-Mahmutbey will decrease to 28 minutes. The distance between Esenyurt and Mecidiyeköy will take 60 minutes, and the 42.6 kilometer road between Esenyurt and Kabataş will take 67 minutes. When the line is completed, it will have the capacity to serve 1.4 million passengers daily between Esenyurt and Kabataş.

TO BE OPENED IN 2024
The first part of the 18-kilometer line with 11 stations, which will serve more than 3.5 million people, will be built with 4 stations and 7 kilometers in the first place. It is aimed that the first phase, which will go to Mahmutbey – Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Hospital, will be put into service in 2024.
Mahmutbey-Esenyurt Metro will start from Mahmutbey Station of Kabataş-Mahmutbey Metro. Mehmet Akif will reach Esenyurt Square by passing through Halkalı Mass Housing, Temapark, Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Hospital, Tahtakale, Ispartakule, Bahçeşehir, Esenkent and Ardıçlı.
The line will be integrated with Kirazlı-Kayaşehir Metro at Mahmutbey station, Ataköy-İkitelli-Olimpiyatköy Metro at Mehmet Akif station and Halkalı-Istanbul New Airport Metro Line at Temapark station.
